Two weekends ago I had the great opportunity to go run in a beautiful area thanks to my friend Jen and her brother. They just finished a 50K race and are truly my heroes. This would be my last long run before my marathon which is this Saturday (more on that in a minute). It was a great run, it was fun to meet new people, and awe inspiring to take in the beautiful surroundings.
The whole time I was wondering how in the world I would run a marathon in a couple of weeks. I just didn't feel ready and that was nagging at the back of my mind the whole time. Jen's brother and blogger friend Holly were great running companions. It was fun to hear Holly's running stories and watching Jen's brother taking off like a deer made we wish I had his stamina.
And then of course there always has to be humor along the way. It wouldn't be a run with Jen if we didn't have some sort of adventure. Jen took a most graceful spill towards the end of our run. She was right in front of me so I saw her go down and it looked like it hurt. Not five minutes later I went down. I couldn't help but just laugh because that is totally me and thanks to Jen she pulled out her camera to document it. You would think that two capable girls could run right?
When we stopped for a hamburger on the way home I assumed that Jen knew that she had dirt all over her facae. Being the great friend that I am said nothing to warn her. Payback for taking my picture after I fell :)
Ready or not (more towards not than ready) Here I come to a full marathon this Saturday!

You will do GREAT!!
ReplyDeleteI am jealous of the first part of that race. You will be screaming down that grade!!
It always has to be an adventure! At least it's always in a scenic place!
