If you have secrets, the last place they should be shared is on a blog. If I thought my kids were actually going to read this then I might think twice before posting such information. It just happened o.k?Emily stayed home from school because she had a sore throat. I'm a pretty strict Mom if my kids stay home. I figure that if they are home sick then they should be in bed getting better. No T.V., no video games, just rest and sleep. It's not a party....until now. I could tell that Emily wasn't really all that sick. I know she had a sore throat but I couldn't help think how nice it was that she was entertaining Ammon while I got a few things done. Then I got this evil idea. She had been asking to go to Old Navy for awhile and life as it is at the moment makes that really hard.
So I asked her...."So, how bad are you really feeling?" Which she responded "Not that bad." I weighed it back and forth in my mind knowing that I could possibly get in trouble with my family. But then I reminded myself how well she does in school, how hard she tries, and how helpful she is to me. So we did it! We sluffed school together. We had such a good time that I told her next time she was sick we would go to the mall!
Sometimes you just have to go with your gut as a Mom. This gave Emily and I some time together that we would never get otherwise right now and I enjoyed every minute with her!

Now onto more serious of subjects...the non touchable cupboard. Every Mom has to have one right? It's the one where you stash all your favorite treats and threaten your children's lives if they get into it. My most recent stash....peanut butter captain crunch. I'm having peanut butter cravings like you wouldn't believe. I had to hide this cereal in my monster diaper bag in order to get it into the house without being detected. I would love to share but it would be inhaled by my children in under a minute and then it would be gone. A whole box lasts me a week if I have a bowl of it every day....which I do.I have other stashes too just in case, and yes my children do know that I have this sickness. I have been dubbed the "food Nazi" at our house even though someone has to control it or it would be GONE.
Oh and by the way Matt....just in case you think this in unfair....don't forget that I took you out to lunch when we had your shoulder x-rayed and you missed school. Just a little documentation just in case I need to cover my ground :)
What a cool mom! I guarantee she will remember that day.
